May 8, 2006:

Well, I've taken another job, this time in Ohio. I'm now doing work for a small company called dunnhumby, which does market analysis. I'm doing primarily UNIX and Linux still, however, the UNIX is now primarily Tru64 instead of Solaris. It's a shame, really, since Tru64 is coming to End of Life, but it has the best clustering of any UNIX out there, bar none. Solaris's clustering isn't nearly as good as TruCluster, but it's not bad. We've decided to go with Linux blades as a cheaper alternative to AlphaServer boxes ... we're using HP BL25p blades and PolyServe as a clustering tool. Again, not bad, but it doesn't provide grid sort of clustering, just service level clustering.

Anyway, I'll try to keep this page a bit more updated now that I've actually got a chance to settle down and do this sort of thing.
